Great demand on China welding industry
China experienced its economic development at a sustainable fast speed expected to reach 8.0 percent growth in 2006. Leading economists also predicted that China would be able to sustain growth of 8 percent a year for the next decade. The total added value of industry grew at 16.7 percent in 2004. Steel production reached 50.1 million tons in first 2 months of 2005, a 22.9 percent gain from the comparable months last year. Backed by stable growth of domestic steel consumption at 12 percent in first 4 months, China has obtained the capability to produce 350 mt of steel. It is estimated by 2010, the steel consumption will have reached 0.33 billion tons which depicts a brisk future for China’s welding industry.
The ratio of steel using the welding technology is approximately 40% that accounts for 130 mt of steel in 2010. According to the China’s economy development plan and welding industry development trend, the ratio will rise to 60-70% in 5 to 10 years time. This indicates that steel using welding and cutting technologies in China is expected to be doubled. Demand on welding technologies is set to surge.
